How is this different from ChatGPT?+
A raw chatbot does not know you. You would paste in samples every time and still get generic output. imYou builds a Personal Profile of how you actually write and feeds that to the model on every request, so the voice is yours from the first line. The profile also stays on your device instead of sitting in a chat history on someone’s server.
How does it learn my voice?+
The first time, imYou interviews you. You just talk to it the way you would text someone you know, casual and specific. It builds a Personal Profile from that conversation, and you can also paste in real things you have written. The more you use it, the sharper it gets.
Does my writing go to Anthropic?+
When you generate, your profile is sent through Anthropic’s Claude models as part of that request, to produce your output. We do not log it and it is not stored on our servers. When you are just editing your profile or poking around the app, nothing goes anywhere. It is on your device.
Where is my profile stored?+
Your profile lives only on your device, in your browser’s storage. It is never sent to a server, never stored in the cloud, never seen by anyone but you. We keep your email address and display name to run your account, and nothing else.
What happens if I clear my browser?+
Because your profile lives in your browser, clearing it deletes the profile too. That is the tradeoff of keeping it on your device instead of ours. Paid plans (Standard and Pro) include an Export button so you can save a backup, restore it, or move it to another device. If you clear it without a backup, it is gone, and we cannot recover it, because we never had it.
What can it write?+
Emails, texts, Reddit replies, social posts and bios (LinkedIn included), dating profiles, and long-form up to about 3,000 words. Each one is sized and styled for where it is going, all in your voice. There is also Freeform, where you tell it what you want and how long and it writes it in your voice, plus a Summarize tool that boils long text down to the gist, and a Mirror tool that reflects your own writing back so you can see how well it knows you.
Is the detector accurate?+
Quick scan runs on your device, free and instant, and lists exactly what flagged the text. It is a proprietary internal measure and reports evidence, not proof: plain, short, or non-native writing can look like AI even when a real person wrote it, so an “unclear” result is treated as inconclusive, never an accusation.
Is it free?+
Your first voice profile is free to build, and the quick AI scan is always free. Beyond that, credits cover chatting, generating, humanizing, and deep scans, on Free, Standard, or Pro plans. There are no ads and nothing about you is sold.
Are you going to sell my data later?+
We can’t. The valuable part, your voice profile and your writing, is not on our servers, so there is nothing in a database for a future us to monetize. That is a design decision, not just a promise.
What is it built on?+
imYou runs on Anthropic’s Claude models. Sonnet does the voice work, the part where the output has to actually sound like you. Haiku handles the fast stuff, like chatting and scanning. The profile system, prompts, detector, and humanizer are ours.
